I Guess This Is “One Lovely Blog”!

Published on October 18, 2009 by Jennifer Laviano

Here are the rules of the ‘One Lovely Blog’ award:
Accept the award
Post it on your blog together with the name of the person who has granted the award, and his or her blog link.
Pass the award to 15 other blogs that you’ve newly discovered. Remember to contact the bloggers to let them know they have been chosen for this award.”

So wrote Ruby in Montreal, the author of the home-schooling blog Schoolsout, informing me that she had selected SpecialEdJustice for a “One Lovely Blog” award!  Ruby and I have communicated online before about our mutual interest in the education of children with special needs.  Although I’m reasonably confident that there are a number of special education directors I know who would not exactly use the word “lovely” to describe any aspect of my opinions, I am honored to accept!

I was especially touched that Ruby described her nominees as “people who inform, entertain and sometimes even urge their readers into action.”  It’s fair to say that Ruby perfectly described my goal as a blogger; it’s always wonderful to hear that you’ve accomplished what you set out to do!

So, with gratitude to Ruby and all of my readers, I urge you to check out the following 15 blogs, all of which touch upon the issues of those with disabilities in general, or special education needs in particular, in important ways.  I don’t always agree with everything they say, but they usually make me think:

1.    Autism is Not The Boss

2.   A2ZEducational Advocates’ Special Education and Disability Rights Blog

3.   Special Needs Truth’08

4.   The Power Of Dyslexia

5.   Raising Asperger’s Kids

6.   Can Mom Be Calm

7.   Life of a Furnace Mother

8.   Kidsensational

9.   Autism Learning Felt

10.  Spectrum Mother

11.  Adventures in Bipolar Land

12.  Disabilities Heroes

13.  Matthew Stoloff’s Blog

14.  Aspie World

15.  Long Island Special Needs Lawyer

Thanks Jennifer. I need to reciprocate this forward but I don’t know if I even read 15 blogs!!! Where do you find the time? You must read fast. I am the slowest reader alive. Anyway, thanks for selecting my blog. It’s the one thing that is all mine. BTW, I love this graphic. It’s beautiful.

I like your list and have added quite a few new blogs to my feed reader. Thanks again for nominating my blog for this award. It was very thoughtful of you. My list of 15 nominees is now up on my site. Perhaps you will find a few new blogs that will interest you. 🙂

Take care, and let’s stay in touch.

    Dear Jennifer,

I found you because I am a loyal reader of Can Mom Be Calm. Jenn does write a wonderful blog and I am so glad that you nominated her for this award.

I am glad that I discovered your blog through this process — I plan on thoroughly checking it out.

Any resource that shares valuable information on learning issues, and disabilities is a huge win in my book. We special needs parents need all the help we can get!!!

    Have a great weekend.
